About Altrincham

Altrincham is a market town in the borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, located south of Manchester it is close to Cheshire and often considered to be part of East Cheshire.

Altrincham is home to Altrincham FC, who are in the conference North division but have a loyal following of supporters from Altrincham. You can also support Manchester Phoenix Ice Hockey Club at Altrincham Silver Blades Ice Dome.

Altrincham town centreAltrincham has a rich history of retail and has been a booming market town since the thirteenth century, this background is evident today as the farmers market in Altrincham occurs every first Friday of the month as well as many other food and agriculture markets in the town.

With close links by rail and road (and even canal) to Manchester and Cheshire, Altrincham was always a sought after location for property and housing. The town centre has plenty of shops, restaurants and bars, although since 2007 many local retailers and suppliers have shut down, many blame the local Trafford Centre while other feel it is due to the slowing economy.

Altrincham has some fantastic schools including Grammar schools for boys and girls, and plenty of things to do for families with a strong sense of community it is the ideal place to settle.

Being close to Cheshire and Manchester, Altrincham has the benefits of being close to a city for jobs and being close to the countryside.

Altrincham has plenty of independent retailers and one of the aims of this site is to get more people using local suppliers to boost the economy in Altrincham and get the town back to being one of the most popular areas in the region.
