Make sure you are in Altrincham at 12noon on Saturday 10th May. The town centre will be filled with sound as local choirs join together to tell Altrincham’s story in words, music and song.

The one hour long performance is the culmination of the Altrincham Sings project, which has seen local Mums, Workers, Teens and Older People form new choirs – many singing for the first time in their lives!

Coronation St actress and local resident Sally Dynevor is supporting the project and said today: – “ I am delighted to be involved with Altrincham Sings and can’t wait to see the final performance. I cannot think of a better way to celebrate our town than hearing so many different sectors of the local community united in song.”

Altrincham Sings has been supported by by Waitrose, Thrive Trafford, Altrincham Forward, Merepark and several other local businesses and is organised by sisters Claire and Tina O’Brien – the founders of Altrincham Children’s Choir.

Claire said: – “The 10th of May will be Altrincham’s first major community singing event. The new choirs will be joining with several established local choirs to provide a joyous and fun filled performance for shoppers and visitors on a busy Saturday lunchtime”

The event takes place at the top of Shaws Rd. alongside the Market House – which is currently closed for refurbishment.

Nick Johnson of Market Operations added “ It is very appropriate that this special event is taking place next to the market. Work is now progressing on the restoration of the much loved building and we are planning for it to become a regular venue for music and activities of all kinds”
