The Easter break was an exciting time in Altrincham with local children competing to complete the Altrincham Easter Egg trail organised by Altrincham Forward.

It was an even ‘egg-stra’ special time for Joseph Lee, aged nine, and his sister Yasmin who won the grand prize of a family ticket to Altrincham’s Silver Blades Ice Rink!  Both Joseph and Yasmin were two of the many youngsters to complete the trail by visiting all 24 retailers around the town and picking up special treats from them along the way. After submitting their completed form to Altrincham Forward, Joseph was chosen at random from the large number of forms returned.

Shops which took part were located across the town with the ambition being for local families to rediscover Altrincham again and visit places they had not visited for a while.

Joseph’s Mum, Ann Lam, said: “There’s a lot more going on in Altrincham than we thought. We discovered independent businesses that we didn’t know were there.”

There were also lots of positive comments via social media with Claire Hines commenting via Facebook: “Thank you for organising such a brilliant event. We had a great time, went in shops that we would never usually go in and came away with so many treats!”

Melanieeades via Twitter said: “Thought it was great, kids really happy with all their chocolate & I found a couple of new places to shop.”

The feedback from local businesses that took part was really positive with one retailer – The Village Toy Company – having to restock their goodies due to the large number of visitors!

In addition to this, on Saturday parents also had the chance to get involved in the excitement with the ‘Giant Easter Egg Hunt’.  Clues were posted on Altrincham Forward’s Twitter account (@altrinchamFWD) which finally led the winners to a giant egg which had been planted at Altrincham Market in The Cheese Emporium.

Tom Simon and his Mum Jill Sayles from Altrincham were the lucky winners and bagged themselves tickets for Vue Cinema and a family meal at Frankie & Benny’s, both located on Denmark Street, Altrincham.

Dawsons Music on Stamford New Road, Delcor at The Downs and Altrincham Library were also on the trail of the Giant Easter Egg Hunt.

“It was great fun with an exciting finish!” said Tom on collecting the prize.

Altrincham Forward would like to thank all businesses who took part.
