Enjoy a blooming great day out at Taste of Spring

March 28, 2013 10:43 am

Altrincham is set to light up with a burst of colour and culinary delights next weekend as Trafford’s Taste of Spring event comes to town. From fabulous food and drink to fresh plants & herbs, there’ll be something on the menu for everyone.

Highlights include traditional cream teas served inside the Market Hall by Cathy Davidson from The Olive Connection and stalls selling hand-made and vintage items sure to tickle your fancy. Beatnik Records – a new cafe and record shop set to open soon in Greenwood Street – will be playing vinyl music, whilst visitors can also celebrate the start of spring with a mooch around the Audacious Herbaceous Plant Fair on Shaws Road.

The Taste of Spring event takes place in Altrincham’s Market Quarter on Sunday 7 April between 11am-4pm. Part of Trafford’s popular ‘Taste of…’ brand, the foodie festival welcomes back some popular regulars so visitors can feast on M&M’s Caribbean delights, La Rioja’s paella or Chorchaba’s tasty Thai and stock up on some of Katie’s Proper Pate, Jo’s scrumptiously sticky toffee pudding, and Dunham Massey apple juice.

There’ll be plenty of new flavours to try out including soup and hot paninis with a focus on vegetarian options from local company Vanillis, plus Japanese tea and cakes by Sweet Octopus.

Leader of Trafford Council, Cllr Matt Colledge, said: “Our ‘Taste of…’ festivals have grown in popularity over the past few years, with the dates hotly anticipated by both local people and those travelling in from outside Trafford. I would encourage anyone who hasn’t sampled the event before to come along, park for free in the town centre and enjoy the entertainment and tantilising treats on offer.”
