May the 7th marks 50 years since the opening of Altrincham Fire Station and to celebrate this occasion the fire station is holding an open day.

Past and present staff, colleagues and the community all celebrated 50 years since Sir Wesley Emberton, chairman of Cheshire County Council opened the station in 1962. The open day was run by the Firefighters and the station staff who welcomed the community and put on a show of all the achievements and contributions to the station and community over the past half a century.

Station manager Kev Brogden said:

“It was really good and far busier than we’d imagined it would be.

“Lots of families came for the open day and the turnout of retired members was fantastic.”

We couldn’t be prouder of our local Fire Station and are really pleased the station has celebrated its 50th birthday. If you have time get down to the open day today and see some of the amazing things the station staff and firefighters have achieved over the years.
