Val Laws from Timperley is celebrating a milestone 15 years of hosting Macmillan Coffee Mornings. Over the past 14 years, Val and her local ladies group have racked up a fantastic £14,787.74 for Macmillan Cancer Support, helping them make sure no one in Altrincham has to face cancer alone.

The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, taking place on the 27th September is in its 23rd year and raised a record breaking £15 million nationally last year. All the funds raised by coffee mornings in Greater Manchester will be spent locally. In Greater Manchester 35 people are diagnosed with Cancer each day; but Macmillan Cancer Support want to be there every step of the way to make sure no one has to face Cancer alone.

It’s fantastic fundraisers like Val who make sure that Macmillan can keep offering support to people in Altrincham and Sale. If you want to get involved, you don’t have to organise your own coffee morning! Everyone is welcome to visit Val’s coffee morning at Timperley Methodist Church, Stockport Road on the 27th September. It’s taking place from 10am-12am and will play host to lots of stalls and a raffle; and of course plenty of coffee and cake! So if you want to help raise money for charity by having coffee and cake then do pay the Coffee Morning a visit.

Val said “ I’m so proud that we’ve been able to raise such a large amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Support. We’d love for the people of Timperley to make this our biggest coffee morning so far and pay us a visit. Everyone is affected by cancer in some way and we want to help Macmillan continue with their work”

Amy Lewis, Fundraising Manager for Trafford, Tameside and Stockport added “I’m so glad that Val is hosting a coffee morning for us again this year. She’s raised an incredible amount of money over 15 years and we are so grateful she chooses to do this for us. We’re encouraging anyone who is nearby to drop in to Val’s coffee morning for a warm welcome; some coffee and some cake. We want to make sure no one faces Cancer alone; and we do this thanks to the amazing people who fundraise for us”
