Altrincham coat of armsThis Saturday, 23rd June 2012, Altrincham and Bowdon Civic Society will be hosting the new national Civic Day.

National Civic Day was created last year by Civic voice and is now turning into an annual event celebrated by the Altrincham and Bowdon Civic Society.

Every year the Civic day has a different theme and this year it is ‘Sharing our streets’ this is a great theme in light of recent developments for the town centre. Ideas to be put forward include discussing improving the town centre for shoppers to spend more time in and managing traffic flow.

The Civic day is a great opportunity for residents and businesses in Altrincham to get involved in the community, voice their ideas and find out more on plans in the area.

If you come a long to the day you can hear about newly approved developments such as the new hospital in Altrincham and the Interchange developments. You can also see the giant Altrincham mind map that will be on display showing ideas for the future.

Altrincham mind mapYou can also find out more about Altrincham as old maps and historical plans will be on display as part of the Heritage lottery fund money awarded to the society and contributing to The Heritage of the Altrincham Area’. So this Saturday, the 23rd June 2012, pop down to cross street, opposite Marks and Spencer’s, where there will be a gazebo set up and the event will be held between 9 am and 3 pm. If you want to find out more about the Civic Day check out the Altrincham and Bowdon Civic Society website.
