Travelodge have opened a new hotel in Altrincham city centre within the Grafton Tower building, just off Stamford New Road. The hotel has 69 rooms, and has been constructed to a high standard following a £3.5 million investment. As well as helping to attract new customers to the town, it has also provided an estimated 17 new jobs within the local area. Research suggests that each visitor to the hotel spends an average of £36 per day in the local shops and restaurants, so it’s all good news for local business owners.

Jane Baugh, the Mayor of Trafford, said:

“We are very pleased that Travelodge is opening in Altrincham which will mean that Trafford will benefit from extra hotel rooms and facilities, especially during such an exciting year for the borough. With Manchester Marathon, London 2012 Olympic Games, torch relay etc bringing many more visitors to the borough, all reinforcing Trafford’s reputation as a great place to visit, with lots of exciting activities and venues for old and young alike.”

Travelodge is well known for offering cheap rates for their rooms, sometimes going as low as £19 per night. As a resident of Knutsford myself, the room rate is actually cheaper than a taxi, so I would be more inclined to get a room at the travelodge on a night out.
