What’s On At Waterstones in Altrincham this Summer

Waterstones in Altrincham often has book events on and this Summer is no different, here are a few of the events you can come along to in July and August at one of Altrincham’s favourite book stores.

babarBabar’s Birthday Party

Friday 28th July

It’s Babar’s 80th birthday and Waterstones in Altrincham are having a party to celebrate!

This is a great opportunity to make the Babar books really come alive for your child, and re introduce them to the stories you loved as you were growing up, fans of the book, both old and new can take part in the  activities running throughout the day, if you get down to the event at 10.30 or 4pm then you can be there for a visit from Babar himself and story time.



the spiral horizon bad tuesdays seriesBenjamin J. Myers – The Spiral Horizon

Friday 10 August, 2pm

Popular local author Ben will be in-store promoting ‘The Spiral Horizon’, the last in his thrilling The Bad Tuesdays series.

Benjamin J Myers lives in North Cheshire with his family, and his exciting series of books for children, The Bad Tuesdays series are a hit with kids, boys and girls, aged 12 and above.

At 2pm on August 10th you can bring your pre teens and teenagers down to Waterstones in Altrincham to meet their favourite author and get previews of the next book in the Bad Tuesdays series, The Spiral Horizon.

Saturday 11th August

An alien is coming to our store and he wants to steal your pants!

An all day event for kids who love space, aliens or just have an active imagination, Waterstones has organised a giggle-filled story time with alien activities to keep your little ones amused, as well as chance to meet one of the aliens at 10.30am and 4pm!

Kids love the idea of friendly aliens and they don’t get much friendlier than at Waterstones!

Saturday 8th September, 11am

Meet prizewinning children’s author Steve Smallman. Steve will be leading a ‘design a dragon’ craft session and then reading from one of his popular book.

Steve Smallman wrote the poems and books, Dragon Stew, the Lamb who came for dinner, Smelly Peter: The Great Pea Eater, Too Hot to Hug! and the Very Greedy Bee as well as many other children’s favourites.

Getting your kids involved in creating their own dragons and artwork is a great way to get them involved and to use their imagination and creative sides.




whos afraid of the big bad bunnyWho’s Afraid of the Big Bad Bunny?

Friday 8th September, 1pm

Meet prizewinning children’s author Steve Smallman. Steve will be leading a ‘design a bunny’ craft session and reading from his latest picture books, ‘Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Bunny?’ and ‘My Monster Dumper Truck’

If your children missed out, or really enjoyed, the last event with Steve Smallman then why not bring them along to the ‘Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Bunny’ where they can carry on the theme or crafts and drawing their own pictures relating to the much loved books and get to meet the author himself.
